Welcome to my online source to sharing my world of Woodworking
[powered by WordPress.]
Well..I guess I pushed the limits yesterday…I awoke this morning to a bit of ache and tenderness in my leg…so I decided to stay home from work and keep my foot up and take it easy.I want the swelling to be down tomorrow when I go to the doctors office so they can put a real cast on and perhaps I can get a bit more mobility back..sure glad I can sit with my leg in the up position while at my computer..so at least I can get some much needed work done on my website… My site has been live one year last Sunday. I have came a long ways but have a long way to go…check it out.The morning is nice and cool so far with sunshine. they are calling for clouds and rain this afternoon. Guess we will see. The puppies figured out I was home and were trying to get my attention earlier…so I did hobble out to the kennel to talk with them and give them a treat… They didn’t understand why we couldn’t go for a walk.
I had friends call earlier from work to check up on me..it is nice to know some people care enough to call and give me crap.
Until later y’all have a great day
Well I made it until noon today and felt I needed to go home and get my foot up and rest cause I couldnt really do that at work. I can tell you that crutches suck big time. Sounds like I have to get used to them for a while. I will see how the rest of the day and nite goes then decide about working tomorrow. Woke up this morning about 3:50 am and couldnt get back to sleep.. so know soon I could crash if I let my self give in. Perhaps I will try a power nap.

In all the excitement of the last few days I forgot to post the news all have been waiting to hear…
It is now official:Going to the Sun Road completely opens June 23, 2006 @ 1616
Greetings once again….I was hoping yesterday entry was all a dream and I would wake up and be just fine, however that
wasn’t the case. At least I seem to be sleeping well without the drugs they wanted me to take. At this point it is more of an inconvenience and only hurts much when I forget to use my crutches or put weight on that ankle. They told me to stay off it and to keep it elevated so the swelling would go down and they could get it into a walking cast on Friday..so I am home away from work and trying to behave. It is very hard for me to sit still and do nothing so I am online posting this and doing some work on my website It is another beautiful day outside and I may hobble out and enjoy it before it heats up.
take care and have a great day….
Well monday morning starts with lots of changes…The Going to the Sun Road finally opened all the way through last friday afternoon with no more than a 30 minute delay throughout. So now I am sure the visitors will be pouring in from all directions to enjoy our awesome area. Weather has now appeared to head into a warm dry period. Nights in the 40’s day times 80-90’s. Everything is nice and green right now, I hope it stays that way.
**late entry**
Yesterday I tried to challenge the laws of phyics. While setting a ridge beam in a shed we were building I got a couple steps ahead of myself and tried to use the beam for support before I had secured it. Wrong answer!! While atop a 6 foot ladder and holding onto the beam above me it gave away and off I went…uttering words I had forgotten I knew… My friend there helping on the other end of the beam said it was a slow motion helpless feeling with me uttering all the way down. Luckly the site supervisor was in the shop getting a tool, so she did not get to witness the incident. Once the initial surprize was over and the sensation of applying all my weight to one joint began to get my attention and we got my shoe and sock off to discover a hardball size knot on my ankle. It was decided that I should go get it x-rayed “just to be safe”……so… off we went to North Valley Hospital in Whitefish Montana emergency room. The staff were pleasant and took me right in for xrays and treatment. The x-rays confirmed what we already thought. and the doctor tried to avoid my question of how long it would take to get back to “normal”. I was outfitted with a fiberglass molded splint because of the swelling and have to go in on friday to a specialist for another look and putting on a real cast. By the way he finally quietly said probably at least six weeks……Dang…what a way to start the summer!! I will find a way to get in my kayak and do some serious floating.
Greeting from the gates of Glacier National Park.. If your desire is to see Logan Pass, then you will have to drive around the southern boundary to St Mary and go up from there. The visitor center and the pass is open, however the west side is only open to Avalanche Creek with hiker bikers to Logan Creek, about four miles. There was a total of at least 10 rock/mud slides in different locations and they have closed the road for an undetermined length of time. The rain has temporarly stopped and this afternoon we actually had some sun. Tonite the clouds came back but only a sprinkle so far..
Currently 34.0 miles of the Going-to-the-Sun Road are open for travel.
Visitors can drive 15.5 miles from the West Entrance to Avalanche, and 18.5 miles from the St. Mary Entrance to Logan Pass.
Park pass may open halfway on Saturday
Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road is expected to open for vehicle traffic — from the east at least — on Saturday.Glacier’s management team met Thursday to review the road’s status and concluded that the gate at Jackson Glacier Overlook “will likely swing open to traffic sometime on Saturday,” a park press release states.
Visitors entering the park at St. Mary would be able to drive to Logan Pass, where the visitor center and parking are still being prepared for the summer visitor season.
The visitor center will not be open this weekend, but restroom facilities will be available.
Access to the pass from the west side of the park will be delayed for several days due to construction near the West-side Tunnel, along with additional cleanup work needed between the tunnel and the pass.
This is the last most of us will see this date in our lifetime….kinda strange feeling….
Well…they have made it to the pass..and as you can see there is a bit of snow…..have not heard any quesstament yet on when it will open…..
