Welcome once again from the Gatekeeper of Glacier National Park……

Fresh snow over the weekend made for some great x/c skiing. Snow was deep with great conditions and good weather. It is a good thing we made it out because the winter storm warning has developed with rain and wind. Suppose to be snow at higher elevations but havent heard.
Just had a visitor find and turn in six darling little puppies he had found running down the middle of the Going to the Sun Road.

“What kind of LOSER would dump any animal in the wild to fend for themselves, let alone little puppies?”

They couldnt have been over 4-5 weeks old..some sort of mix…I tried to adopt all six, but have to wait and see if someone reports them missing. Will post update later….

Just finishing up my order for two “boomarang” cedar cribbage boards. It has been a fun process to design the track and then create templete, drill holes, finish. My customer will love them…can’t wait to hear the comments. More updates on website; pictures, pages…etc…also applied filler to bed project and then sanded after 24 hours….close to sealing, staining and polying. Then it will be time for a road trip to Seattle to deliver to my three year old grandson…He has been providing guidance over the phone about how things should be done.
Never a dull moment around here.

Have a great day…….

Welcome once again from the Gatekeeper of Glacier National Park. Fresh snow abounds in the park and skiing and snowshoeing conditions are doing pretty good. The trees are covered in snow and hopefully the temperatures will stay cold and the conditions will improve even more. Park webcams are still not functioning due to server issues in Washington DC…hopefully they will be up soon….

Splinters had a productive weekend on both the projects and updating the website. Check out the projects pages…lots of new project pictures and still in progress with more to come…as well as lots more pictures and webcams links…..

Have a great week…

Cheers

Cheers from the Gatekeeper at Glacier National Park….always nice to have a long weekend…but you end up paying for it in the long run… We continue to get some snow and some rain with warmer than normal temperatures…The forecast still says the jet stream pattern will change to a more normal flow bringing colder air and snow from the northwest and Canada…Currently ski conditions are not too bad with fresh snow most nights…..daytime temps are hovering in the 30’s…with nites dropping into teens and 20’s…actually creating a fair base for x/country skiing…higher elevations seem to be getting fair amount of snow and moisture content is good. Avalanche danger is considerable between 5 -7 thousand feet…

Splinters is still very active in the workshop trying to complete current projects and planning new ones. We love the activity and the challenges. Keep those projects coming in…
Happy birthday Bro….we really miss all the interactions…..Bruce would have been 53 today…he is missed alot….he was definitely a one of a kind…

Have a great rest of the day….

Friday the 13th

by @ 11:33 am. Filed under Uncategorized

Greetings from the front seat of Glacier National Park…Today mother nature has blessed us with new snow again..the crisp whiteness on the trees and the ground is refreshing…Fresh snow means improved ski conditions…..It has started as a quiet friday so far…hopefully we will drift off into the weekend the same way…At higher elevations the snow is piling up with almost 100 inches at the Flattop mountain weather station…It appears the wildlife really enjoy this time of the year when they reclaim their forests from the huge throng of visitors which arrive here every summer…It is a real blessing for me to also enjoy the solitude of winter and allows me to refresh myself for the new group of visitors who I know will appear this spring as we begin to open up for another summer season…

Peace be with you…..

Morning!!

Greetings once again from the gateway to Glacier National Park..It seems winter decided to take a spring vacation in January….the winter storm warning never materialized…it has been lots of rain…which on top of the snow we did have has made conditions rather mucky….I am thankful we are getting moisture…it just would be nicer if it were all snow….

Into the sanding stages of my bed project….which is a slow process…..it will be nice when done…..

Until next time have a great day!!!

The Gatekeeper has returned and it looks like winter has also..The park and surrounding areas are in a Winter Storm Warning…with heavy snow falling as I made my way to work today…Forecast calls for up to 11 inches snow today with similiar amounts for each day this week….Hopefully we don’t get the rain the valley is getting….will provide update as soon as get reports from road crews…but I would reckin skiing and snowshoeing will be rather good…..

Weather stopped me from making a journey to Seattle to see new grandson and rest of family…from the looks of today it was a wise decision to not go…

Still plugging away in the shop with projects…currently working on a bed for grandson Ryan…along with several more cribbage boards….trying to also update photos on webpage….not enough hours in the day….
Take care and enjoy the moment….
until later……..
