Howdy

by @ 9:41 am. Filed under Uncategorized

Greetings…..Overnight the snow gods were trying….amounts vary depending on where you are…
at my home base (one and 1/2 miles from park) we got 6-8 inches of snow new snow…
at the head of Lake McDonald in the park the crew is reporting 1-2 inches …
The Flattop Mountain weather station only recorded three inches new snow over night with a total so far of 50 inches on the ground and currently 25 degrees….
at Logan Pass it is currently 18 degrees w/ wind chill temperature at 3 degrees w/ 30 mph winds…
Looks like Many Glacier has 8 inches snow on the ground but temperatures are in the 30’s with a inch of new snow overnight…
Polebridge has 23 degrees with 100% RH..8 inches of snow on ground with 4 inches of new snow…

Skiing is reported as marginal right now, however there is more snow in the forecast so hang in there.

I am back at my post as gatekeeper for Glacier National Park so …..Splinters Woodworks shop hours are currently limited to evenings and weekends…I am working on completing projects and taking orders for new projects…..

Thanks for your time and have a great day….

Greetings

by @ 9:12 am. Filed under Uncategorized

Greetings from Glacier National park…winter is slowly taking over and the pace in the park has slowed. Crosscountry skiing and snowshoeing is not real great right now…due to all the freezing rain and warm temperatures we have had. That will change and soon we will have the best powder for x/country skiing, or snowshoeing around. It has been foggy and very cloudy for some time now. At some point this will typically lift and we will have spectacular snow covered mountain top views and lots of fresh powder. The wildlife is very active seeing deer daily wander by my window to the world. Currently it is 32 degrees with 100% humidity and snow in the forecast for tonite and the rest of the week.

Have a great day from the Gatekeeper of Glacier National Park….

Friday Greetings

by @ 11:01 am. Filed under Uncategorized

Looks like I have missed a few days. It has been a busy week trying to make many changes to website and also in the shop completing a multitude of projects(cribbage boards, picture frames)
Weather has remained cold with some snow on ground(10-12 inches) The loose running neighborhood rabbits seem to have faired well in the cold weather and snow. They eagerly wait for me to refill the feeders I have placed out for them. It is a blessing to watch all the wildlife roam through the woods. Being only a short ways from the gateway to Glacier National Park there seems to be an abundance of wildlife and spectacular scenery. I will try and get over there and take some current winter pictures. Until then check out the live webcams we have at the park.
Until later take care and enjoy life each day as if it were your last.
